Revolutionary War era Western Maryland small Belt/Fighting ax
3 5/8” x 2 5/8”, [.93#], his long 14 5/8” handle makes this axe a nice fighting weapon. Round socket, moderate surface oxidation. The small size of the axe in consistent with belt axes as this example could be used for camp use or fighting purposes. The handle may have been replaced at some time [most axes of that period had several replacements but this haft is old and is tightly fitted in the socket and
has been with that axe for many years. 18th Century.
