Revolutionary War era Small Sander or Ponce Pot

This is the perfect size for a soldier or traveler to take with him. The sand or pounce, ground cuttlefish bone, was sprinkled on documents to dry the ink after writing.  See any old movie to see it in action with a quill pen. A great 18th c piece. All literate men and women would have owned these including the founding fathers. 2.25 in tall
