Late 18th C. Officer's Portable Liquor Cabinet or Cellarette
Very similar to those owned by George Washington and Baron Von Steuben. Any Continental Officer of means would have his this with his baggage. Comes with notes on other examples on display.
Description: CONTINENTAL OAK OFFICER'S / TRAVELLING BOTTLE CASE, the iron-bound, dovetailed case with lock and small carrying handles, featuring a paper-lined fitted interior with 12 period half-post-blown colorless glass case bottles retaining their original stoppers, and a lift-out tray fitted with a funnel, and a wine glass.
Dimensions: 10 3/4" H, 17" x 11".
Date: Fourth quarter 18th century.
Condition Report: Excellent condition, glass undamaged, case with replaced hinges and some small losses to metal.
