Revolutionary War Soldier's Pocket or Small Mirror
$145.00Price
c.1780-1810 Officer's Campaign Mirror. This hard to find mirror is in very good overall condition. The mirror itself still gives a very good reflection as so many from this period are faded or broken. Condition of wood is good featuring a nice tight slide open and close. Larger examples with slightly different styling developed from 1800 onward with this type of campaign mirror being a style in use through the Civil War. All officers would have needed one of thes to keep clean shaven, the grooming standard of Washington's Army This is a good pre-1800 example and can be referenced in George Neumann's, Early American Antique Country Furnishings, p. 86.
Measures 3 5/8" close, 6 1/4' open.
