Late 18th to Early 19th c. Military Issue Rifleman's Horn
Late 18th to Early 19th c. Military Issue Rifleman's Horn. This horn was issued with a rifle to rifleman such as the Regimetn of Rifleman or reileman in Wayne's Legion. Plug in butt unscrews to fill as seen in photos. Not to be confused wth a an artillery horn which is similar, but this horn does not have the loops to attach a string to carry it. This type of horn also would have been issued to Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery. This is very rare and missing in most military horn collections. Some shrinkage to plug and a small old glue repair as seen in photo. Approximately 11 in. in length with a 3 in. plug.
